We know, we know… we’ve been going on and on about Nike’s We Own The Night, but that’s because we really, really, really love this race. As very happy participants last year, we can assure you it’s going to be super fun and friendly, and it’s the perfect race for first-timers – like we were last year! If you’re still thinking about signing up, do it now as it’s only 6 weeks away and your training should start… well, today! Also, if you’re worried running on your own, Fashercise hosts a weekly running meet up in Regent’s Park every Wednesday, for all levels! All details here.
Last year our entry got us a cool DRI-Fit t-shirt, a glass of bubbly (or two) upon arrival and a little bracelet memento. This year, Nike is stepping it up a notch and giving us an extra reason to run that 10k: every runner will get a beautiful Finisher’s necklace designed by jeweller Alex Monroe when crossing that finish line. Rather than a huge medal which you get at most races and – let’s face it – only wear for about an hour after the race until you realise everyone on the tube home is staring at you, this dainty necklace is something you can wear forever.
This morning we went to a special yoga session and breakfast on top of Shoreditch House with Alex Monroe, who told us how much he loves the idea of WOTN and how he wanted to give every girl a keepsake they’d happily wear and show off to their friends. It’ll also be somewhat exclusive, as it won’t be available in shops, so it’s special for runners only. The gold, silver and bronze disks are engraved with little mementos of the night.
We’re not going to lie… but knowing this necklace is waiting at the finish line might actually get us to run that little bit faster.
It’s not too late to sign up for WOTN, just register here.
