Fashercise meets... Pretty Athletic

Fashercise meets... Pretty Athletic

Sharing is caring

We speak to Leyla Cooper, founder of active skincare brand Pretty Athletic. Previously, she was a busy lawyer who loved working out during her lunch break but hated returning to her desk all red and sweaty. She found there was no skincare range available that took care of her pre and post workout needs, so she decided to create her own, and so Pretty Athletic was born.

Who are you?
I’m the founder of Pretty Athletic, a new British skincare brand for active women.

What inspires you?
The desire to live a healthy and happy life, and to still be active many years from now.

Who is the Pretty Athletic girl?
Someone who strives to live a healthy and active lifestyle. She works hard to fit exercise into her busy schedule, mindful of the amazing health and beauty benefits that exercise brings!

How did you get into creating Pretty Athletic?
I love my skincare products, yet I couldn’t find any brands with products designed for sporty & active women.

You could find great skincare products for pregnant women, for young girls, for sporty men, for summer skin, for very sensitive skin, for night time use, but nothing for active and sporty women. Pretty Athletic aims to change that.

Where do you see yourself/brand in 5 years’ time?
We have so many ideas for new, innovative products – and lots of ideas from our customers! In five years’ time, I hope and expect the Pretty Athletic skincare range will have grown to be an integral part of every active woman’s gym bag.

What’s the one item every woman should have in her wardrobe?
A good sports bra.

What are your style tips for dressing to the gym?
Ensure your active wear is made of breathable, moisture wicking fabric. No one likes sweat patches.

What’s your favourite healthy snack?
Fruit, any type.

What do you indulge in on a cheat day?

What’s your workout of choice?

Do you have any fitness goals you would love to achieve?
I would really like to improve my half marathon PB (my half marathon times haven’t really changed in 10 years!), and to run at least one more marathon before hitting 35.

What do you do to relax?
I love a good spa day: there’s nothing better than a tough workout followed by a swim, steam, sauna and some beauty treatments.

If there was a soundtrack to your life, what song would be playing right now?
“Happy” (Pharrell Williams)
