Serena Williams has teamed up with Nike to design her own trainers to help her move around even better (as the world’s number 1, is that even possible???). The result of this partnership is the NikeCourt Flare, a classic tennis shoe with a twist. After rolling her ankle, Serena was looking for a shoe with extra support and so she and the design team came up with the ankle strap – which doesn’t just look great but obviously helps with keeping the ankle strong and supported.
To celebrate the new shoe launch, as well as the start of Nike Court Club, we were invited to a special tennis session on the prettiest courts in town, which included an appearance and the opportunity to play with the woman of the hour herself, Serena Williams, no big deal… (such a big deal!) We were very lucky to get our hands – or should I say feet – on a pair of the trainers and as a notorious ankle twister myself, I am happy to tell you these bad boys are worth the hype! The shoe is light and easy to move around in, whilst the neoprene ankle strap gives support without actually feeling like you’ve been bandaged in. The whole shoe is so lightweight it feels more like an extension of your body, designed to work with you. Oh – and it happens to look pretty amazing too.
Oh, and a selfie with Serena? Don’t mind if we do!
