The (in)famous Barry’s Bootcamp opened the doors to its second London location last week, and we were there to take the first ever class in the brand spanking new Finsbury Square location…
Two years after the launch of the Euston studio, Barry’s has now headed East to the City for an even bigger and better location, accommodating up to 50 people per class. Afterwards, the changing rooms are a gorgeous place to cool down and pamper yourself in, and there’s the Fuel Bar on the ground floor to relax and get yourself a delicious protein shake or coffee afterwards.
As far as the classes go, they’ve remained the same: yep, they’re still pretty much the hardest workouts in the world… We were complete Barry’s newbies, and oh boy, did we get our booties kicked! If you’re not familiar with Barry’s, here’s how it works: there’s about 25-30 minutes of interval cardiovascular treadmill routines (which are, in our humble opinion, the toughest workout EVER) and 25-30 minutes of strength training utilising free weights and other equipment. Regardless of which order you do the class in, you’re 100% guaranteed to be totally and utterly knackered at the end.
And if you’re worried about not being fit enough, fear not! The darkness of the studio allows you to do your own thing, without everyone staring at you – besides, they’re far too busy getting their butts kicked as well to even notice anyone else! So what are you waiting for? Give it a go, you won’t regret it – except perhaps when walking up the stairs the day after…
