Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few months, you’ll probably have come across blogger and personal trainer Zanna Van Dijk on Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, in magazines and newspapers and pretty much everywhere else. Yup, we’re currently suffering from a serious case of Zanna-fever and can’t get enough of this tall blonde fitness babe. Fresh off the launch of her first ever activewear collaboration with Sports Philosophy (which we happen to sell 🙂 check it out here), we spoke to Zanna about how she motivates herself, cheat days and gym style tips!
Who are you?
I’m Zanna, a personal trainer, fitness blogger and most recently… an activewear designer!!
What inspires you?
My dad. He inspires me every day as he is someone who moved to a foreign country and worked his ass off to build his own company from scratch. He deserves every success.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time?
Hopefully I will still be having an awesome time doing what I am right now! I would love to still be blogging/vlogging and using social media. This industry moves so fast that it is hard to say what will happen next but I would love to have brought out more activewear and products in the future too!
What’s the one item every woman should have in her wardrobe?
A good quality leather jacket that goes with everything and stands the test of time.
What are your style tips for dressing to the gym?
Keep it simple. I tend to stick to monochrome colours and then add variety with mesh, prints or a small pop of colour. It ensures your kit is flattering!
What’s your favourite healthy snack?
Nut butter, straight out the jar!
What do you indulge in on a cheat day?
Chocolate. I am a sweet person, not a savoury person. So I will go heavy on white and milk chocolate. YUM!
What’s your workout of choice?
Lifting weights and boxing are my two chief forms of exercise, there is nothing more empowering than lifting heavy stuff and punching the living daylights out of a bag!
How do you motivate yourself when you don’t feel like working out?
I use social media – I actually find snapchat super inspiring when I see people getting up super early to train or having an awesome workout. It inspires me to do that same!
Do you have any advice for people starting their fitness journey?
Talk to those around you – you friends, family, partner and colleagues. Explain what you’re doing, why you’re doing it and how they can support you. It is so much easier to stay on track when others aren’t trying to make you slip up!
Do you have any fitness goals left you would love to achieve?
So many! I still want to hit 10 pull-ups in a row!!
What do you do to relax?
Watch YouTube videos. As a vlogger myself, I don’t watch TV and instead I watch other vloggers! I love to sit down with a cuppa and watch my favourite channels for an hour.
What is the best piece of advice anyone has ever given you?
To love yourself first. Loving yourself has so many benefits. It makes you more secure and confident in who you are as a person and empowers you to go after your dreams, get up after any failures and to not care about what anyone else thinks. I strongly encourage anyone and everyone to work on their relationship with themselves first!
If there was a soundtrack to your life, what song would be playing right now?
Well after my previous answer, lets say Love Myself by Hailee Steinfield!!
