Meet Francesca Giacomini, personal trainer to the stars, author, creator of Francesca The Method and all-round force of nature. We had a little photoshoot with Francesca in her Chelsea home and spoke to her about her fitness journey, how to stay motivated to work out and much more…
Who are you?
My name is Francesca Giacomini, I’m a fitness entrepreneur. I’ve been dedicating years of studying and researching on how to get women to achieve their perfect goddess body. I have experienced everything in first person!
What inspires you?
Strong and powerful women all over the world who don’t stop and have it all: family, business, beauty… and more. They’re always reaching for the stars!
Where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time?
I live in the now. I always have a goal and always work towards it, but I try to live in the present.
What has been your biggest career highlight to date?
The publishing on my books The Goddess Workout and hosting my own TV fitness show for Sky TV.
How did you become a personal trainer?
I was practically born in a gym! It is in my genes – my grandfather owned a martial-art gym in Rome back in the Seventies, which was so groovy and hippy of him, it was very revolutionary at the time, especially in Italy.
However I consider myself more a life coach, as I advise many of my amazing clients in different aspects of life, not only their workout and diet.
Do you have any advice for people starting their fitness journey?
Keep up the good work and make it a habit for life. Check out my videos online to keep you fit wherever you are.
What’s the one item every woman should have in her wardrobe?
Leggings! They are so versatile. You can wear them with heels for a night out or with trainers during an active day. From the Gym to the Ivy, they always make you look feminine, sexy and they are so comfortable!
What are your style tips for dressing to the gym?
What’s your favourite healthy snack?
I don’t believe in snacking, but to beat the afternoon slump or after my main meal, I do like a coffee or herbal tea with a dash of coconut & rice milk and stevia to add sweetness…
What do you indulge in on a cheat day?
I don’t like the word cheat-day… I think when you eat healthy everyday, your body does not need to cheat, because by feeding yourself with the right nutrients, you will always feel nourished and satisfied without any cravings!
What’s your workout of choice?
My bespoke conditioning exercises. Precise movement with specific equipment, targeting bum/arms/abs to tone, elongate without adding bulk. Plus I love and highly recommend just being active all day… fidgeting is a great way to burn fat without stressing your body with heavy cardio!
How do you motivate yourself when you don’t feel like working out?
I always feel like working out! It’s who I am, it’s like breathing for me… I simply could not live without movement. Humans are meant to be active!
Do you have any fitness goals left you would love to achieve?
I love to learn… there is always something new on the market, a new field to explore. We must learn about all the other aspects of life to be complete. At the moment I am very interested in how to keep the body young, so I’m doing a lots of studies on that subject.
What do you do to relax?
Sport massage & reflexology are my favourite combo. And of course a good night’s sleep!
What is the best piece of advice anyone has ever given you?
Believe in yourself and don’t underestimate your potentials. Never give up!
If there was a soundtrack to your life, what song would be playing right now?
Little Bird by Annie Lennox
