Fashercise Meets... Born Nouli
Meet Hayley, the designer behind new British label Born Nouli. Juggling motherhood, keeping fit and traveling frequently, she was looking for a legging that would seamlessly get her from the gym to the street, which would look just as good for yoga as it would for brunch. The result is Born Nouli, a collection of beautiful printed leggings designed to make you stand out from the crowd, whilst giving you all the technical support you need. We spoke to Hayley about her inspiration, her goals and vision for this exciting new British brand!
Who are you?
I’m Hayley, founder of Born Nouli. I live in a lovely little village in Nottinghamshire currently juggling motherhood, keeping fit/sane and running an exciting new business!
What inspires you?
Life. Time is precious and each day we have less time left than the day before. I try really hard to not do stuff that wastes that precious time and make sure I spend my time with people that I love, doing things that I care about. It’s easier said than done sometimes, but I am getting better at it.
Where do you see Born Nouli in 5 years’ time?
I’m 5 years’ time I would love to see women all over the world doing their stuff in their Born Noulis. Whether it’s working out, walking the dog, doing the school run or simply just doing something they love, if they are feeling great with a pair of BNs on their legs, I will have achieved what I set out to do.
What has been your biggest career highlight to date?
It’s the little things that I get most pleasure out of, like when I receive an email from a happy customer telling me how incredible their new leggings make them feel. It doesn’t really get much better than that for me at the moment.
Do you have any advice for people starting their fitness journey?
I think there is a lot to be said for “I wish I hadn’t done that workout, said no-one ever”. There are lots of times I could find an excuse not to work out, but I remind myself that once it is done I will feel great and much better for it. I think the “starting” of a fitness journey is the hardest part. Once you have actually started it becomes much easier.
What’s the one item every woman should have in her wardrobe?
Apart from the obvious (a pair of their favourite Born Noulis!) I couldn’t live without my Adidas Ultra Boosts.
What are your style tips for dressing to the gym?
100% comfort in pieces that give you a great shape and body confidence. Before we even thought about prints at BN, we scoured the globe in a quest to create a legging that felt incredible on which felt like a second skin and stayed put no matter what.
What’s your favourite healthy snack?
I love a rice cake covered in Pip N Nut’s Coconut Almond butter.
What do you indulge in on a cheat day?
I do have a slight crisp obsession which I am trying to address, but a cheat day would definitely feature Worcester Sauce French Fries and a large glass of Shiraz in there somewhere.
What’s your workout of choice?
I love to sweat and with children and a new business to juggle there are often not enough hours in the day. My solution recently has been to incorporate more HIIT into my routine. I also love a great Spin class.
Do you have any fitness goals left you would love to achieve?
I have a friend who can walk on her hands and I would love to join her one day!
What do you do to relax?
I love the sea and on sunny days will do all I can to head to the nearest beach. On rainy days it will usually feature bed socks and a good box set.
What is the best piece of advice anyone has ever given you?
Don’t forget, your life is what you live, live it with no regret.
